FIELD: modification of surfaces of materials by ion beams; instrumentation engineering, mechanical engineering; manufacture of structural materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes radiation of surface to be treated by multielement beam of ions of zirconium, molybdenum and carbon in pulse periodic mode of microsecond range at ion energy of 45 to 75 keV. Composite cathode Zr-Mo-C is used as multi-element source of zirconium ion beam.
