FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method of unloading frozen coal from open-top cars 1, slot is cut through full height of coal layer in contact with one of end face parts of open-top car square to its long axis, and shock pulses are used to break coal which is then discharged under gravity through open hatch covers 2 in open-top car bottom. Breakage of frozen upper crust 4 and lower crust 5 of coal layer is done by alternating inclined cuts, upper crust of coal being chipped off to widening slot, and lower crust, to open hatch cover in open-top car bottom. EFFECT: reduced power consumption, increased capacity. 1 dwg
